Vice Dist Governor

Greetings Lions, Lioness and friends                                       August  2006

The 89th International Convention is now history.  Everyone had a good time and we met many Lions and now have Lion friends around the world.

International President, Jimmy M. Ross, from Texas, is not having a Presidential Theme this year but stressing the Lion Theme WE SERVE.  If there is a need in your community, let the Lions be the ones to step up and fill that need.  IP Ross would like each Club to establish a new fund to be set-aside to be used to meet that need.

Unfortunately the Region and Zone Chair training will not happen before the first Cabinet Meeting.  I will attempt to have training by Regions at a later date.  We will talk about dates and times at the Cabinet meeting.

One problem that I have found is Clubs in the District not submitting M Reports to LCI and the District.  Non-reporting Clubs in the month of May numbered 17 out of 49.  Club Secretaries, you MUST submit your M Reports or you jeopardize your Club by over paying for members you have dropped, and you do not get credit for new members. THIS REPORT IS A MUST.

I would like to name two Lions or Non-Lions in the District for The Helmer Lacy Sight Service Award.  This was missed at the State Convention and PID Lacy would like to two recipients during the year to make up for the missed ones and then name two more at the 2007 State Convention.  The first two awards will be presented at the appropriate District Conventions.  The dead line for naming the first recipients is September 1, 2006.  If you know of anyone who is deserving of this award, get me names.

This weekend is the Gala celebration for the WLF 50th Anniversary on Friday, the Birch-Sturm Golf outing on Saturday, and the Camp open house on Sunday.  Hope to see you there.

 Yours in Lionism

 District Governor Dennis
